Shaltiel, David
(1903-69)
   Palestine Haganah commander. Born in Germany, he joined the Haganah in Palestine. He was a founder of Shai, and later served as Haganah's chief of intelli-gence. During the War of Independence, he was commander of the Etzioni brigade and Jewish area commander in Jerusalem. He later served as Israeli ambassador to the Netherlands.
